dancing and a performance by Cirque du Soleil’s KÀ.
Guests
included: Henry Segerstrom (Managing Partner, South Coast Plaza); Elizabeth
Segerstrom; Quentin Shih (artist); Pamela Baxter (President, Christian
Dior, Inc and CEO LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics); Karen Watkins (Executive
Vice President, Christian Dior); Dean Corey (Artistic Director, Philharmonic
Society of Orange County); Zhang Yun (Consul General, People's Republic
of China in Los Angeles); and Chen Huaizhi (Consul, Consulate General
People's Republic of China).
Ancient Paths, Modern Voices pays tribute
to China's diverse and vibrant culture and its influence around the world.
The first festival presented under the partnership between Carnegie Hall
and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County marks the first time that
Carnegie Hall's live festival programming will be offered to audiences
outside New York City. The festival features leading Chinese musicians,
including artists and ensembles traveling outside of China for the first
time, performing myriad genres of music. This festival also includes
traditional marionette theater, exhibitions, and much more—a true
immersion into a world that mixes ancient and modern, familiar and new.
