People & Parties With Panache SFJAZZ Gala

The SFJAZZ Collective with special guests Wayne Shorter and Joshua Redman performed at the SFJAZZ Gala.

On Friday, May 16, SFJAZZ held its 25th Anniversary Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.  The Gala honored legendary saxophonist and NEA Jazz Master, Wayne Shorter in his 75th birthday year and featured performances by the SFJAZZ Collective with special guest Joshua Redman plus members of the SJAZZ All-Star High School ensemble.  The Gala raised over $325,000 for the artistic and education programs of SFJAZZ.

The 25th Anniversary SFJAZZ Gala began with a welcome reception featuring culinary delights and signature cocktails, along with bidding on an exclusive array of silent auction packages. A sumptuous seated dinner followed, with guests enjoying live musical performances. With jazz being the music of improvisation, the evening caps off with what has become a highlight of our annual event: The SFJAZZ After Party, a lively postlude with a delectable dessert buffet, coffees and cordials, dancing, and spontaneous performances.

SFJAZZ is a recognized international leader in jazz creation, presentation, and education. SFJAZZ explores the full spectrum of jazz, from the music's origins in the African American community to its diverse present-day expressions around the world. SFJAZZ presents a wealth of year-round programs, including the internationally acclaimed San Francisco Jazz Festival, the SFJAZZ Spring Season and numerous community outreach and education programs.
