Select
guests from Chicago's cultural, corporate and civic communities
gathered on May 15th, 16th and 17th at River North's newest
museum dubbed the “Marble Palace.” Guests toured the
Richard H. Driehaus Museum, housed in the historic
Samuel M. Nickerson Mansion, at leisure to view a striking 25ft .
stained glass dome, the interior's 17 types of marble and a
unique collection of late 19th and early 20th century art - which
includes one of the largest private holdings of work by preeminent
American decorative designer, Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Hosted by Richard Driehaus, a Chicago native and successful mutual
fund manager, the parties offered more than 150 guests an exclusive
preview of the Museum before it opened to the public on June 1. A
string quartet welcomed guests into the intimate party while wine
and hors d'ourves circled the Museum's rooms. Guests
parted with a book commemorating the Museum and its remarkable history
and restorations.
