Cunard Line welcomed the American Institute for Stuttering (AIS) for a first-ever Gala Luncheon to raise funds for the study and treatment of stuttering on June 10.  Held aboard the company's flagship Queen Mary 2, the event included lunch in the renowned Queens Room, an awards presentation and performances by Otis and the Hurricanes and comedian J.D. Lawrence.

The gala luncheon was emceed by CBS News anchor Katie Couric and co-chaired by Sir Harold Evans, James Manley, CEO of Atlantic Pacific Capital, and Tina Brown. During the gala, the Institute gave its first annual Freeing Voices, Changing Lives Leadership Award to honorees Jake Steinfeld, Kenyon Martin, and Carly Simon.

The American Institute for Stuttering is a specialized, non-profit treatment center for children, teens, and adults who stutter. It is the only non-profit facility in the United States that offers both day and evening intensive and individual treatment options for people of all ages while also providing clinical training to both new and established speech-language pathologists.  AIS' mission extends to advancing public and scholarly understanding of this often misunderstood disorder.
