OVERVIEW

Built in 1905 by Contessa Gabriella Rasponi Spalletti – daughter of the Vice-Consul of France, niece of Napolean Bonoparte's sister, and widow of Count Venceslao Spalletti Trivelli, Senator of the Kingdom of Italy – the Villa was known in its heyday for its magnificent drawing rooms and adjacent private gardens, and as the meeting place for Italian aristocracy.

Emerging from an extensive, three-year renovation under the guidance of world-renowned architect Piero Alessandrini, Villa Spalletti Trivelli has been restored to its original splendor. It evokes at once a period residence true to its family's century-long passion for history, culture and art, while incorporating state-of-the-art amenities and technology for the most discerning guests.

What truly sets the Villa apart from other boutique hotels in Rome is its impeccable service, attention to every detail and preferential treatment. Guests are treated as if they were the Contessa's personal guests, and have the unique privilege of staying at a magnificent private villa, experiencing the pampered feeling and aristocratic lifestyle of one of Rome's most important noble families.

The Villa's twelve luxury bedrooms and suites feature original old prints and antique furnishings from the Spalletti Trivelli family's private collection, as well as spacious marble bathrooms. The rooms overlook the estate's impeccably manicured Italian gardens and the Quirinale Palace Gardens, providing an aura of secluded tranquility. In warm months, the Villa's lush, green gardens are transformed into a vast drawing room shaded by dreamy gazebos.

Luxurious tapestries, wall coverings and fabrics feature vibrant colors and lush textures. Room amenities include king size beds with hypoallergenic and orthopedic mattresses, wrapped in Fiandra linen sheets; artistically-crafted bathrooms; and state-of-the-art entertainment and communications systems.

The Sala degli Arazzi living room features an honesty bar; the Sala del Camino is reserved for afternoon tea; and the Sala da Pranzo serves as the breakfast and dining room, featuring a buffet-style, classical Italian breakfast, enriched by savory foods and hot dishes accompanied by the full range of Italian coffees.

The Villa's Energy Bar and Gym feature a Turkish bath and an array of purifiying treatments and therapies for holistic wellness. Essential oils and perfumes have been created to enhance the different rooms. Water in the Floating Bath, and the area stretching from the reception to the Sal de Hammam Master are continuously purified and treated by a Cleanergy system. The cocktails, treatments and therapies, from energy-vibration to craniosacral massage, are synergistically and harmoniously applied and coordinated for maximum effect.

The Library features superb wood paneling, preserving the extensive Spalletti Trivelli book collection, and can be used as a unique meeting room.

During the early 1900's, Villa Spalletti Trivelli became an important political and cultural meeting place. Every Thursday afternoon, the villa's drawing rooms were filled with influential politicians and some of the most notable literary and artistic personalities of the time, including Romualdo Bonfaldini, Sidney Sonnino and Rabrindanath Tagore, the Nobel prize winner for literature in 1913.

With the Contessa's death in 1930, the mansion was inherited by her son, Cesare Spalletti Trivelli, who lived there with his wife, Contessa Guendalina Cavazzi della Somaglia. Their son, Piero, a writer and poet, received the Villa from his parents after they were appointed Sir and Lady of the Court of Queen Maria Josè of Belgium, wife of Umberto II of Savoia, the last King of Italy.
